A beautiful morning brought out the crowds to the Cathedral for the 10.30am Mass. This third Sunday of Advent is known as 'Gaudete' (
'Rejoice!) Sunday, from the opening word of the Introit, or entry verse, but it also signals a joyful anticipation of the birth of our Saviour. The tone lightens - literally; the normal purple colour of the vestments and altar hangings is replaced by a lighter hue of rose. Below, Fr Christopher proclaims the Gospel at the 12.00 Mass.
