We all love this notice, a survival of a bygone ago, attached to the Archbishop's House at the corner of Ambrosden Avenue. Its air of wounded indignation suggests a weariness with, and a haughty disdain of, the exuberance of youth.
The odd thing is, though perhaps it is the lighting, that it seems to emphasise 'child', as though hinting to the less young that they should have a go.
Did Archbishop's House have a big phone bill?
ReplyDeleteThat space after the word 'SEEN' is just crying out for the word 'NOT' to be chalked in, isn't it? Might almost have been put there for the purpose!

ReplyDeleteThis sign has always amused me, but I'm too short to take a reasonable photo of it - thanks for this!
