Having just discovered your blog I am interested to see that old postcards have been used to illustrate the history of Westminster Cathedral. The photos showing both the consecration and Eucharistic procession were all issued as postcards as no doubt your archivist is aware. As a collector of postcards pertaining to the history of the catholic church in Britain I should like to point out that the photo postcard showing Cardinal vaughan was actually issued prior to october 1902. My example was posted in that month. The same photo postcard was then reissued after his death with the addition of 'the late'.
Westminster Cathedral is the mother church of the Roman Catholic community in England and Wales. This extraordinary house of God was opened in 1903, and its distinctive Byzantine architecture provides the visitor with what Sir John Betjeman called "a series of surprises".
