A Blog from Westminster Cathedral
My formidable predecessor, Mgr Martin Howlett, who was Administrator of Westminster Cathedral from soon after its opening in 1905 until 1947! I like to think of him dressing like this each day to sit at his desk. He doesn't look as though he takes many hostages, though...

Impressive picture. Mgr Howlett was PP at Kingsland before moving southwards to Westminster. Do you have any other photos of him?
You must post a photo of your good self, dressed in the same manner.
A sort of now and then.
With the St Curé d'Ars to your left!
I didn't know that Mgr Howlett had been at Kingsland; looking today in the history of the cathedral by Peter Doyle, he receives no mention (despite his length of tenure!). I'll investigate form more pictures in the archives.
I agree that the Curé d'Ars is a pleasant touch, and its mobile expressiveness an amusing contrast to the Mgr 9who had clearly been told not to move, and possibly not to breathe!)
Thought you'd like it, Joee.
Formidable indeed.
That's the business end of the good Msgr. there. =)
I do agree with the before and after photo though. It would be good to see continuity in such an august institution.
I have an 'offical' photograph of me at my desk, in the same office, and may be induced to publish it - on a slow news day!
