Stabbing outside the Cathedral

The scene outside the Cathedral at 11.00 yesterday morning, after the stabbing of a community policeman just across the road, near Cardinal Place. The full story on the BBC website is here. The assailant ran off, in the direction of the Cathedral, and so the Piazza was cordoned off while a search took place.

Victoria Street was closed to traffic. With nerves stretched to breaking point over the recent car bombs in London and Glasgow, this incident (although unconnected) seemed to reinforce the sense of our daily lives being under attack.

One of our staff was able to help the police with a description of the attacker. The assailant was later caught and the policeman, thank God, was not fatally wounded. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
