Faithful Handmaid of the Lord

Paula Mossala faithfully cleans the chapels of the Cathedral; like Anna in the Temple, such holy women are the powerhouse of our community, supporting it by work and prayer.

What a great picture!

My dad, after he retired from his job of 38 years in a factory, became the parish "sexton". He spent many an hour on his hands and knees scrubbing the sanctuary floor and praying.

One day, while "on his knees", Cardinal John Dearden entered the church and asked my dad, "Where's the boss?" My dad, an ex-Marine, not knowing who this "priest" was who was speaking replied "You're speaking to him."

About an hour later, the pastor came into the church and found his cardinal archbishop engaged in a lively conversation with my dad.

To his dying day, the Cardinal sent my father a Christmas card with an inscription, "to the boss".

Again, thanks for the picture. It brought back special memories.
