A good view of the sanctuary from the dome balconies; it is sad that most visitors to the Cathedral never get to see the fine marble floor in front of the baldacchino.

Father, do you ever do guided tours of the Cathedral, including the bits members of the public can't usually get into?
I for one would love to come on one - and I would particularly love to go up to the dome balconies!
A splendid view indeed. However, from this angle you can see more clearly the temporary nature of the positioning of the Mass altar. How glorious it would be if Mass were celebrated once again on the high altar (without moving it!;-)
Westminster Cathedral is the mother church of the Roman Catholic community in England and Wales. This extraordinary house of God was opened in 1903, and its distinctive Byzantine architecture provides the visitor with what Sir John Betjeman called "a series of surprises".
