A Blessed Anniversary
We recently had the privilege of celebrating the fortieth wedding anniversary of Patrick and Nan Somerville; Bishop John Arnold celebrated Mass for then, and they gathered (with friends) in the sacristy for a photograph.
It is always important to mark these anniversaries - they are such a joyful witness to the sacrament of marriage. In this case it was a special delight, as Patrick and Nan are well known and loved Cathedral parishioners. Patrick, as a former Police Commissioner, helps us with security for major ceremonies, a role he fulfils with unsurpassed efficiency and tact.

I was delighted to see the Photograph of Nan and Patrick's 40th,wedding celebrations on your blog. I had the honour of being at the wedding 40 years ago in Edinburgh and will always remember the occasion as I had driven in my MG sports Car from London to Stranraer/Larne to Belfast (visiting my parents) and then from Belfast to Edinburgh arriving just in time. The weekend in Edinburgh was NOT to be missed and then on Sunday morning it was back to London in time for 7.00pm. Mass in St.Joseph's Highgate before starting Night Duty at Kennington. UNFORTUNATELY Anne and I were unable to join the anniversary celebrations as we were on Pilgrimage in Northumberland. However I have the date in my Diary for the 50th, Wedding Anniversary celebrations. Maurice Smith
