Clearing the Cathedral

Work began just after 8.30am this morning, as our trusty maintenance staff began to move the chairs. They were assisted by - in the white jacket above - Bishop John Arnold, who is not averse to rolling up his sleeves!

1,500 chairs needed to be moved away from the nave. Within a few hours, the nave was clear, leaving Len, our cleaner, to give it a final polish.

The Cathedral looks stunning with the chairs removed ..

.. and the floor reflected the bright december Sunlight. A scene of tranquil silence, which was, however, destined in a few hours to become this!
