Praise Him in the Heights

From the Cathedral Chronicle, October 1929:

In our February number we spoke of the lift to be installed in the campanile. Since that time much work has been done, and now the lift is nearing completion. Indeed, the lift is already in situ, and was blessed by the Cardinal before Vespers on Sunday June 10th. The work has been carried out by Messrs Marryat and Scott, of Hatton Garden, working in conjunction with Mr L H Shattock, the Cathedral Architect.
s
The lift is stated to be the highest in the Old World, and by courtesy of Messrs Marryat and Scott we are able to reproduce a composte photograph showing in striking fashion the comparative heights of the Campanile, Nelson's column in Trafalgar Square, and the London Monument. They are respectively 284ft, 185ft and 202 ft high.
