Good Friday - Crucifixion on Victoria Street
On Good Friday morning, the Christian communities of Westminster join together in a common act of witness, known as the 'Crucifixion on Victoria Street'. The procession begins with a short service outside the Methodist Central Hall. Pictures (c) Marcin Mazur.
The cross then leads the procession across the front of Westminster Abbey and down Victoria Street.
The cross was this year borne by a client from the Passage, the charity run by the Daughters of Charity and Westminster Cathedral, for the homeless. In fact, this particular gentleman usually sells copies of 'The Big Issue' outside the Cathedral.
There was a huge crowd that filled the Piazza - the fine weather helped. it is a great act of witness to a city busily engaged in commerce on this holiest of days.
