Good Friday - The Solemn Service

A few pictures from this year's Good Friday service, and more from last year (c) Marcin Mazur. It is 3 o'clock, the hour of Our Saviour's death. The Cardinal kneels in veneration at the beginning of the Solemn Commemoration of the Lord's Passion - the clergy prostrate themselves down the length of the aisle.

This is a day of extreme sorrow, for the suffering and death of our Lord. But the death which Christ shared with us was in accordance with God'splan for the salvation of the world, and was accepted by the Father for our redemption. So the cross of Christ becomes the Christian's glory, and our day of morning is truly 'Good', and brings us hope.

I have been to many of the mass at Westminster. I am the Master of Ceremonies (MC) in my parish. Who is the MC at the cathedral?

The present lay MCs are Nick Tilbury and Paul Moynihan; the clergy MC (who accompanies the Cardinal) is Fr Slawomir Witon.
