Palm Sunday 2007

The Palm Sunday Procession: the blessing of palms takes place in the Cathedral Hall, and the procession walks down Ambrosden Avenue into the Piazza.

Above, the Cardinal celebrates the High Mass at 10.30.

At other Masses, the congregation gathers at the back of the Cathedral for the blessing of palms. Below are images from the Vigil Mass, at 6.00pm last night. Deacon Richard (who is in residence with us from the seminary for Holy Week) proclaims the Gospel of the Entry into Jerusalem.

The Mass was celebrated by Bishop John Arnold: the sanctuary looks especially impressive with palms at the High Altar, and even down the sanctuary steps!

Deacon Peter Simpson has commented on my blog about the veils on the cross being white for Maundy Thursday and asking if they could be red for Palm Sunday?
